Buddy Dive on Dominica at the Fort Young Hotel | Dominica Group Dive TripBy the time you have been driven across the island from the airport to the hotel you will already be stunned at the sheer rugged beauty of Dominica. These overwhelming sensations of The Nature Island are just a precursor to your introduction to the best half of Dominica: the underwater world!

The dramatic mountains you have traversed are mirrored in the topography of our underwater dive sites. Cliff faces plunge into the Caribbean Sea and descend straight down 1500 feet (460 meters), pinnacles rise up from the surrounding depths almost to the surface, and volcanic ridges slope off into deep blue water.

Fort Young Hotel Dominica | Buddy Dive DominicaBuddy Dive on Dominica at the Fort Young Hotel is the ideal place for your dive holiday! Their oceanfront Hotel & Dive shop are located at the heart of the islandís historic capital Roseau which makes Dominicaís finest heritage hotel the perfect place to stay.

The air-conditioned rooms are perfect for both divers and non-divers, singles or couples as well as families. All rooms are equipped with a private bathroom with shower, direct dial telephone, in-room safe, cable TV, and high speed Internet. On top of that all rooms are set up with a mini fridge, coffee/tea maker and ironing facilities for your convenience.

The Oceanfront Rooms are located in the newest section of the hotel, all with spectacular ocean view (some even offering 270 degree vistas) and only the sky separating the balcony from the beautiful crystal clear water below. These units are also perfect for families, as four of the rooms interconnect.

The hotelís own activities desk is the starting point for hikers for one of the excursions in close proximity to the hotel. Treks to one of the hundreds of waterfalls in the rainforest, explore Morne Trois Pitons national park or spot the 170 species of birds.

If you are looking for some traditional Caribbean relaxation, thereís always the rooftop jacuzzis, infinity pool, gym and spa. Add in the best known restaurant in Dominica where you can dine while watching the sun set into the sea, as well as a buzzing cocktail bar and cafe, and itís clear why The Fort Young has long been seen on the island as THE place to be.

With 35 years of experience, we know what our guests want. The dive operation consists of a fully stocked dive retail shop, teaching facilities, rental gear room, lockers, rinse tanks, camera tables and outdoor showers and are all located dockside making it more convenient for the guests to enjoy the boat dives.
The dive boat of Buddy Dive on Dominica departs multiple times a day to go to the different dive sites around the island. Their boat is a Newton 46 feet / 14 meters that can easily accommodate divers and crew on a 2-tank trip with a spacious deck, dedicated camera table, dry storage, fresh water shower, head, and large rinse buckets.

Dive sites are covered in thriving healthy coral reefs and schools of midwater fish like chromis, creole wrasse and sergeant majors. Larger pelagics patrol the outer edges of the reefs and barracudas, turtles and sting rays frequently swim right through dive groups causing delightful photographic chaos.Dominica reef formation |

Dominica's reefs are made up of volcanic formations of ledges, crevices and swim throughs. These formations give refuge to a myriad of small critters considered rare in other destinations. Seahorses and frogfish are common and almost guaranteed sightings for divers on a weeklong package. Other rarer critters like batfish, flying gurnards, yellow head jawfish, upside-down jelly fish and flamingo tongue snails can be found if you carefully search the reefs.

Their reputation as the regionís most colorful diving is due to the profusion of sponge life and crinoids. First time divers in Dominica will be amazed at the variety of color, from yellow tube sponges, azure vase sponges, pink vase sponges, green finger sponges, lavender rope sponges to crinoids of every hue.
