In Search of the Whale
Shark |

Join
Scuba Center on a dive trip to the Yucatan to participate in one of the
most exhilarating encounters you will ever experience. Swim with the
largest fish in the sea – up to 45 feet long! While some may be
intimidated by their size, the whale shark is actually a gentle giant.
Every summer the whale sharks congregate near the island of Holbox to
feed on a diet of tiny krill, squid and small fish. They feed by opening
their large mouths and sucking up their food. We will combine our whale
shark encounter with stays at two beautiful resorts and an opportunity
to dive the reefs and cenotes of the Yucatan Peninsula. Non-divers and
children are welcome to enjoy this trip too as the whale shark
experience is not done on scuba and there is plenty
of non-diving activities to enjoy. |

We
arrive in Cancun’ on July 14th where we will be met and taken by private
coach to Dreams Tulum for our four night stay. This beautiful resort is
situated on the Riviera Maya beach within view of the Mayan ruins of Tulum.
We have scheduled three days of two tank dives while at the resort. You will
have the opportunity to dive the barrier reef along the Riviera Maya coast,
or, for the more adventurous you can dive the in the famous freshwater
cenotes that are found in the nearby jungles.
The resort offers great food and amenities to
enjoy when we are not diving. Eco-adventures and visits to the Mayan ruins
are available if you want to do more than just kick back and relax at the
resort. |

On
July 18th we will be transported to the ferry dock for a boat cruise to
Holbox. Holbox is a laid back unspoiled island where golf carts are the
primary means of transportation. It is separated from the Yucatan Peninsula
by a beautiful lagoon populated by flamingos and pelicans.
We will transfer to the Hotel Villas Delfines for three nights. Located on
beautifully landscaped grounds just steps from a white sand beach, the small
resort is made up of eco-friendly buildings surrounding a beautiful pool.
All rooms are comfortable with air conditioning and a phone.
Our whale shark adventure begins the next morning when we board our private
boat and travel to where hundreds of whale sharks congregate. Each of us
will have multiple opportunities to snorkel and photograph these animals as
they swim near the surface. We will return a second day to repeat this
incredible encounter.
On the morning of July 21st we board the ferry to Cancun where we will be
met and transferred to the airport in Cancun for our flight home. |
