Q-Powerline

Q-PowerLine represents over 5 years of research and development to engineer the ultimate line specifically for traction kiting applications. The unique cored construction utilizes continuous linear strands of very high tenacity Spectra 2000® fiber encased in an extremely tight braided Spectra 2000 sheath. The resulting line exhibits the ideal characteristics for traction kiting:

Almost zero stretch means minimal length adjustments and incredible kite “feel” when flying
No sleeving required makes it easy to produce your own custom sets
Self-lubrication ensures minimal friction during line wraps
A round cross-section minimizes parasitic wind-drag increasing both the kites forward speed and response to pilot input
A tight external braid reduces dirt abrasion, and a higher modulus (stiffness) than traditional lines almost totally eliminates line tendency to tangle.

Proprietary coating technology allows production of hi-visibility safety lines in fluorescent yellow and orange with even coatings that resist the tendency to fade and rub off.

LeaderLines

Leader lines are used as extension lines on a kitesurfing bar to protect the flyer from coming in contact with their potentially dangerous flying lines. Leader lines are thicker and provide some protection against the flyer getting tangled or cut by their flying lines. The outside leader lines also provide the flyer with a relatively safe line to grab, when they need to pull their kite around after it has landed nose down in the water.

Q-LeaderLine from PowerLine Sports is as big an innovation to leader line as Q-PowerLine is to the line market. Made from 100% Spectra fiber, utilizing a modification of the technology used to create Q-PowerLine. Standard Q-LeaderLine utilities a linear Spectra fiber core just like Q-PowerLine, however the overbraid is made from encapsulated spectra fiber providing superior wear resistance. Q-Leaderlines come with a high visibility black and yellow overbraid.

While these are excellent reference materials, in no way should this information be considered a replacement for proper kiteboarding training or experience. This sport utilizes kites that can be extremely powerful. Safety equipment (such as helmets, flotation jackets, and quick releases to name just a few) should be used whenever appropriate to the application. A responsible attitude and training* or experience with a smaller trainer kite are essential for a safe entry into this sport. Always read owners manuals! The participant as well as onlookers will have a much safer and more enjoyable experience.
