Scuba Center, just two blocks south of Lake Harriet in south Minneapolis, is the place to find kites, kiteboarding equipment, and windsurfing equipment in Minnesota.  Midwest Snow Kite & Sea Kayak School (MWSK2) -- Pete Kuhn: PASA Certified Snow Kite Instructor, Stunt Kiting 20 yrs, Snow Kiting 3 yrs, Certified ACA Sea Kayak Instructor. -- Steve Blain: AASI/PSIA Certified Instructor, Sailing 41 yrs, Windsurfing 29 yrs, Snow Kiting 6 yrs, Ozone Kites sponsored rider. -- We use the Ozone brand of kites for instruction. Ozone started with paragliders and transferred their foil and safety designs into the kite industry. We choose their kites because they work so well and have great safety features. For snow kiting, either skis or snowboards can be used. We use both depending on the conditions. Skis are easier to learn on and are preferred in some conditions. While these are excellent reference materials, in no way should this information be considered a replacement for proper kiteboarding training or experience.  This sport utilizes kites that can be extremely powerful.  Safety equipment (such as helmets, flotation jackets, and quick releases to name just a few) should be used whenever appropriate to the application.  A responsible attitude and training* or experience with a smaller trainer kite are essential for a safe entry into this sport.  Always read owners manuals!  The participant as well as onlookers will have a much safer and more enjoyable experience.
