Nautilus Undersea | Socorro Island Diving with Scuba Center You can see giant mantas in many places around the world. But nowhere else boasts a population of giant mantas that literally seek out interaction with divers and snorkellers. If a manta looks you in the eye and feels that they can trust you, the most amazing interspecies interaction often follows. That is the magic of Socorro and something Nautilus has learned very well since their first exploratory trip there in 1978. While mantas are the main reason to voyage out to Socorro, there are lots of other animals to see, including schooling hammerheads and silky sharks, plus 10 other species of sharks, bottlenose dolphins that consistently hang out with divers at certain dive sites, large schools of pelagic fish, and, in season, humpback whales.

Nautilus Undersea | Socorro Island DivingThe Nautilus UnderSea first entered service in 1968 as the personal submarine tender to Dr. Perry of Perry Oceanographic. This sturdy and brave ship became one of the most famous dive boats in the world as the Undersea Hunter voyaging out to Cocos Island and in IMAX adventures around the South Pacific. Nautilus graced the ship with a massive shipyard refit including: stretching the hull out to 105 feet, a new superstructure and extended sun deck, a bulbous bow and stability system.

The Undersea accommodates up to 19 guests and offers a range of accomodations:
1 Triple Stateroom: Main deck. 2 bunk beds, with 1 of the bunks for extra storage. Ensuite with private shower and individually-controlled air conditioning.
6 Staterooms:
Lower deck. Upper and lower beds. Configuration varies between the 6 staterooms. Ensuites with private showers and individually-controlled air conditioning.
ADA Compatible Stateroom: Adjacent to the dive deck. Wheelchair friendly. Twin beds. Huge window! Ensuite with private shower and individually-controlled air conditioning.
1 Premium Suite: A large premium suite on the sun deck can be configured into two full beds or one large bed. Flat screen TV, multiple windows, ensuite, plenty of storage space, individually-controlled air conditioning and easy access to the hot tub.
